RunOut #46: J-Star and Topo Chico

Big Changes at The RunOut. After a long break, we’re back with a new show format and tons of great content in the works.

In this episode, Andrew and Chris muse about the rise of lo-cal locals sipping White Claws at the crags, and discuss our new show format and what’s in store for the The RunOut going forward.

We also sit down with Jonathan Siegrist, one of America’s best rock climbers, and try to get him to reveal just how many damn 9a’s he’s climbed. Imagine climbing so many 9a’s that you have to think about the answer to that, by the way.

We’re also introducing The Final Bit, a variety hour showcasing climbing’s non-climbing talents. And one of our favorite former guests James Lucas kicks it off with a really bad joke.

You can now support The RunOut on Patreon, and by doing so you’ll get access to additional episodes, including AMAs, op-eds, and more banter than you’ll know what to do with. Click here to become a RopeGun today.

  1. Dear Messrs. Kalous and Bisharat,

Your discussion of grading systems made me think that you should invite someone (Niall Grimes, maybe?) onto your show and have them attempt to explain the arcane mysteries of the British trad grading system to you.

I don’t know if it would leave anyone the wiser, but I suspect it would be very entertaining.

Also we get to start calling shit “Extreme” at around 5.10, so we’ve got that going for us.
